I am the GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Coordinator for the City of Omaha and Douglas County - see our site at www.dogis.org. I have become involved with the Omaha Green Neighborhood Council because my family and I have been steadily becoming more interested in "living green." This is an especially good time because we are hoping to build a new home in SW Omaha soon. We intend to invest of a lot of energy and research into creating a sustainable home design, pursuing efficient construction methods, and incorporating a broad variety of green materials into our new home. This is where my interest in the GNC comes in - I am interested in creating more awareness and learning more myself about how to "build green." Additionally, I am very interested in solid waste and recycling efforts at the neighborhood level. I think I can help promote the concept of "less waste" in Omaha neighborhoods.
