At the 12/11/2007 GNC meeting, the proposed mission statement was modified to:

The mission of the Green Neighborhood Council is to develop a sustainable way of life within our neighborhoods.

At the 1/16/2008 GNC meeting the mission statement was adopted to be:
The mission of the Green Neighborhood Council is to promote a sustainable way of life in our neighborhoods.

The mission statement committee met at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5 at the neighborhood center.

In attendance were Deb Clark, Daniel Lawse, and Katherine Townsend, with helpful input from Andrew Jameton, Mike Schonlau, and Steve Andrews who were unable to attend. Our proposed mission statement draft is as follows:

The Green Neighborhood Council develops a sustainable way of life within our neighborhoods.

To participate in discussion around the statement, please attend the GNC meeting planned for 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, at the Douglas County Extension Office, 8015 W. Center Road.

When I first saw the mission statement, develop seemed too strong for now and not really practical. I would suggest "promote" a sustainable way of life.
